Used for measuring output rates. Today, very accurate scales can be purchased at relatively low prices. It is important, and often overlooked, to select a scale with the accuracy and range appropriate for your requirements. As an example, at 1,000 lbs./hr process rates, and a one minute sample (17 lbs.), +/ 1% readability is .17 lbs. Testing a 1% color additive 17 lbs. for a one minute sample) requires a gram scale to be able to achieve the same readability of ± 1% (± 0.77g). List your requirements. Select an accuracy then purchase the scale, or scales. Calibrate it with a known weight often.
