Assembling a screen pack
Vol. 21 #3, Dec. 1994

When assembling a screen pack, place a very coarse screen next to the breaker plate before placement of the finer mesh screens. The coarse screen will prevent the finer mesh screens from lying flush against the breaker plate holes.

Since most breaker plates are designed with 35% to 55% of open area, compared to total breaker plate surface area, this technique allows for a larger area of the filtering screen to be utilized.
