Pressure Transducer Handling
Vol. 19 #1, Feb. 1992

Make certain that any people involved with cleaning extruder barrel IDs (for instance, with a wire wheel) understand the pressure transducers should be removed before cleaning commences.

Also, a transducer should never be installed or removed from a mounting hole which has not soaked at a temperature above the melting point to assure plastic is molten. Improper handling is a major cause of premature transducer failure, and at $600 a pop, cuts into the ol' wallet mighty deep.
